Blogging Inspiration

I have recently read a similar post on a lifestyle blog and decided to write my own. I don't usually write about blogging but I think it would be an interesting topic for the future.
Most of my blog posts are simply inspired by a book I read or films I watched. I think that having something concrete to rely on is the most straightforward way to have a solid blog post with interesting viewpoints for a discussion. In these kinds of posts, my inspiration derives mainly from what really struck me about a book; I try and focus on the reasons why they've felt unique and different from the others.

As for my lifestyle posts (as my last one on 10 Things to Do on a Summer Day), I tend to just brainstorm and get my passion for writing to flow. I like to be creative and write about topics that people can relate with at the moment.

My steps are the following. I take a paper and a bright colouring pen and draw a spider gram with a key word in the middle (yes, just like at primary school :D); then I write down other key words around it and finally decide what my topic will be about. I then like to have a look through my pictures and decide which ones I will be using for my post. I love when a blog post is introduced by a beautiful photo - it's almost more important than its text because it's what will lead people to click and read it (or at least what attracts me to it).

When I find it hard to decide which photo to use I take out some magazines or cookbooks (which always have the best designs!) or just have a look on Bloglovin' and try and find some fancy ideas. I like to keep the post colourful and catchy with an interesting subject in the featured pictures.

My overall rule is to keep my content authentic by using my pictures and ideas. I only use Wikipedia's pictures for film reviews as I obviously cannot buy DVDs for all films I watch haha.

What is your inspiration for blogging? Do you have some rituals you go through before starting to write?

  2. First off, I just wanna say that your blog is shaping up beautifully! :)

It honestly really depends for me when I blog! Sometimes I'm bubbling with ideas and make rough drafts of it to come back later, and other times, I'm completely stumped! Usually, I take a look at the blogs that inspire me most and gain some ideas from that.

    1. Thanks Lor, I'm glad you like the blog <3 It really means a lot seeing your comment here even if you're on Wordpress and I've switched platforms.
Same for me, my inspiration is never the same. It depends on my mood and how much I'm into a post.

  3. I will just try again to post my comment from earlier! First of all I love your new blog design and I'm glad you made the change. It looks so, so good.

Secondly, what a wonderful post. My inspiration comes naturally and always flows. I have so many ideas I don't know when to write all the posts and I do lack now and again some serious motivation rather than inspiration.

I keep all my ideas in a journal and when inspiration strikes (mostly under the shower) I quickly scribble them down. I'm the kind of person who has to write posts on paper before I draft them on the PC. Paper is so more creative and inspirational than a bland computer screen.

    1. Thank you for your kind words Caz. I worked hard on the blog and I'm glad you like it :)
It's funny that you get your inspiration under the shower! Everyone finds it in different ways and yours is definitely an original one. I agree with you, it's better to write on paper, it's more creative and stimulating, especially if you do it in a beautiful location (I love writing outdoors, most of all in nature). I find that it hard to create interesting snaps for the blog post whereas usually writing is easier for me.

  4. Lovely post my blog post are mainly lifestyle I love writing about real life issues etc, but I also do love writing about beauty and fashion. I like to mix things up with my blog from time to time so it's original and it's not just another copy of a beauty blog, it can be hard to come up with new ideas on a regular basis though

    1. I know what you mean Lauren, it's nice to mix things up and be original. I like to make my posts unique too by only adding my own material (ideas, photos, questions). Glad you liked the post :)
