Valencia Erasmus Diary - Sunday Trip to Albufera

I'm very glad I can say that I'm back with a travel blog post! I've been very very busy lately and neglected my poor baby blog. However, I have thought about changing its name again which is quite an important step for a blog I guess, and switched to Journal by Assia.
If you're a reader of my blog please let me know your thoughts on this, as this has always been a tricky decision for me. I passed from The A Blog to simply Assia Shahin (thinking I wanted it because many professional bloggers just use their name) then to Journal by Assia. I think that the last name is more fun and can express the idea that my blog is, to me, like a journal where I write - mainly because I don't like limiting its content and am open to change. So hopefully after around a year of blogging I will finally feel secure about names.

Today I went on a spontaneous trip to Albufera with my Erasmus girlfriends and had a lovely time.

Albufera is a lagoon on the coast of the Valencian Community. The lagoon is mostly used for fishing and growing of rice until today.

As we found out when we got there, the main tourist attraction is a relaxing boat trip around the lake which we obviously didn't miss.

This is where we got our barca (=boat) from. It's fairly cheap (4 euros) and well worth it - the village doesn't offer much more anyway.

Last summer I happened to go on quite a few boat trips and realised that the more I did, the more I enjoyed them. Today I felt like I was being brought to those amazing experiences and loved it.

These are just a few pictures of the main village, which is a tiny one. There are many restaurants and cafes where you can have amazing local paella overlooking a small channel. We passed but I'm sure it would have been great!

And these were our last rural views before leaving back to Valencia. It was a very short trip but we really enjoyed it :)

How to reach Albufera from Valencia: get bus n 25 for only 1.50 euros (single)! We left from Plaza de America but I'm sure there are other stops in city centre from where you can leave.

  2. Glad you could get away from those dusty old novels for a boat trip :) (Still wish I could find a "like" button for your blog.)

    1. If I installed Disqus on my blog there could be a like botton, but every time that I find it on other blogs I just find it annoying. The like botton is one of the reasons why I slightly prefered Wordpress.com but eventually I thought that the blog design was more important for me... And yes, it was very nice to get away from books actually :)

    2. Full disclosure: Almost nothing annoys me in real life but I am easily annoyed on the computer, so if Disqus is annoying, I support your decision, even if it means I must live without a "like" button :)

    3. I appreciate that! Most bloggers fall into the Disqus web then don't know how to get out of it :/
